Some great results from Salmon Leap members at Marathon Europeans in Denmark!
Eabha Ni Drescoil in the Junior women’s K1 was up first. Eabha had a great start and earned a strong position on the leading side wash, staying in front place for a good few laps. Eabha ended up finishing in 7th place not far behind the winner.
Paul Donnellan and Ben Higgins would race the Junior Mens K1 and K2 the following day. Both Paul and Ben would be looking to carry on their recent success at the World Cup earlier on in the year. Paul had a great start whilst Ben found himself with a bit of work to do, Paul was in the front group for a good lap or two until a clash with the spanish paddler saw him drop of the group and paddle the rest of the race with team mate Ben to finish the race in a sprint for the finish to see Paul 14th and Ben 15th in the K1. Next K2 being their 3rd time in k2 they had a very good race to climb the field and finish 8th.
In the U23 K1 Ronan Foley had a blinder of a race to finish in a Great 4th place in the long course just behind the medals, the day before Ronan raced the senior mens short course and finished 4th again only seconds away from some medals! This is a fantastic weekend for Ronan and its great to see him back up with the big guns.
Well done to the rest of the team who all came away with some great racing
