The past two weeks has seen the World Cup series begin and finish. The first World Cup was in Poznan, Poland with the Second in Duisburg, Germany. The team was made up of all Salmon Leap Members!
K1 5k, 1000m & 500m Ronan Foley & Barry Watkins.
K1 200m Ryan O’Connor
K1 5k, 500m & 200m Jenny Egan
Some great achievements with Barry Watkins making B & C finals over the two World cups with the highest ranking of 8th in the B final in Poznan which is some result!! Jenny finished creditable 5th in C final of her 200m. In the 5ks Barry and Ronan both raced in Poznan and finished with solid results Barry 7th and Ronan 14th. Sadly Barry was ill in Duisburg and didn’t race for this reason, but in a very large field 41 men boats in total Ronan had a great result and came in 15th.
Jenny Egan being Irelands only female athlete had two great 5k’s over the series. Jenny came home with a Silver from Poznan and a Bronze from Duisburg! This is a very special performance, bringing home two world cup medals from the same series! So Big well done to Jenny!
The club would like to say congrats to all those who raced and well done for doing both Salmon Leap and Ireland proud. We wish you all the best of luck for the rest of the season.
